Find a London Office fulfil Tim Flynn Architect’s unusual brief to find them outstanding office space in Southwark

In March 2013, we were commissioned by Tim Flynn Architects to find an office of 2500-3000 ft2 on a single floor with good natural light. Moving from an office in Mayfair, communications were a very important consideration, but unusually, this job was not purely about location. This was a building-centric brief. I blogged about this unusual brief earlier in the year when we first commissioned by Tim Flynn Architects (Where are the best office locations for creative businesses?)
We spoke to over 500 of our central London office agent contacts in pursuit of something a bit special. And we came up with some pretty good raw warehouse spaces in Clerkenwell and Kings Cross. We were amazed how many buildings we managed to unearth with exposed brick walls and high ceilings.
After looking north of the River, we were tipped off that a new development was coming to the market, 2 minutes walk from Southwark Station. So we took the Jubilee line to Southwark – even the tube station looked stunning.
Tim Flynn Architects put their mark on their office
When we arrived at One Valentine Place on Blackfriars Rd, it was clear we had found “the one”. Surrounded by tall windows, the 5th floor had clean lines, great light and striking views. The open plan space provided carte blanche for Tim Flynn to put their mark on.
Both Holly Rowan and Tim Flynn himself were a delight to deal with and the landlords think their internal fit out is the best in building. Not that surprising perhaps, given their market leading interior design expertise.
Award Winning
To cap this, it has recently been announced that One Valentine Place – designed by Stiff + Trevillion – has been awarded Office Development of the Year by the NLA (New London Architecture)
