There are quite a few charities in the London property industry, but none as well known or long standing as The Story of Christmas. It is a charity with an unusual approach: in return for a generous contribution, you get to join in with the most amazing carol concert just before Christmas. It’s amazing because it attracts celebrity readers. This year we had Stephen Fry, Benedict Cumberbatch, Freddie Fox and June Whitfield. And as usual they were joined by Dame Judi Dench who is president of the appeal.
This year – the 35th presentation – over £340,000 was raised for charities that concentrate on children in the London urban area. Amongst those were charities that help disadvantaged homeless children, specialist childrens hospices, and organisations who help children with special educational needs.
I’ve been helping this charity since the very first year in the late 70’s, and last year was very pleased and honoured to be appointed as one of the 8 trustees.
Here at Find a London Office, we are working out a way to make donations linked to our fee, once we’ve placed tenants in their new offices, so watch this space.
